Mobile veterinary care brings the veterinarian directly to your home. Your pet can be examined in a familiar environment without the stress of traveling to a traditional veterinary clinic or waiting in a busy lobby.
Yes. Multiple pets from the same household may be scheduled together. A separate examination fee applies to each pet, but only one household travel fee will be charged.
Please let us know how many pets need care when scheduling so that we can reserve enough time.
Most appointments take place inside your home or in another safe, enclosed area on your property. We will work with you to choose a location that is comfortable for your pet and provides adequate lighting and space for the examination.
Outdoor examinations may not be appropriate during extreme temperatures, poor weather, or when a secure area is unavailable.
Please tell us before the appointment if your pet has previously shown fear, aggression, or difficulty with veterinary handling, or if they are fearful of strangers in their home. This allows us to plan the safest and least stressful approach possible.
In some cases, pre-visit medication may be recommended. If an examination or procedure cannot be performed safely during the mobile visit, your pet may need to be rescheduled or referred to a veterinary facility with additional staff and equipment.
Medications may be prescribed when medically appropriate and when a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship has been established. We are also able to provide written prescriptions for a small fee or you may order from our online pharmacy at no additional charge.
Some medications or treatments may require diagnostic testing, an in-person examination, follow-up monitoring, or referral to another facility.
Yes, vaccines and preventive-care recommendations may be provided based on your pet’s age, health, lifestyle, previous records, and risk factors. We are also able to provide vaccine titer testing.
It is important to note that the rabies vaccine is required in the state of South Carolina, even if you have an adequate titer.
We will discuss the recommended next steps with you. Your pet may be referred to a full-service veterinary clinic, urgent-care facility, emergency hospital, or specialist when advanced imaging, hospitalization, surgery, continuous monitoring, or other facility-based care is needed.
Mobile veterinary care may serve as your pet’s primary source of care when appropriate. However, some diagnostics, procedures, and treatments will still require a fully equipped veterinary facility. We strongly encourage clients to maintain an established relationship with a local brick-and-mortar primary care practice so their pets have access to timely in-clinic services when needed.
We also recommend knowing the location and contact information for your nearest urgent-care and emergency veterinary hospitals before an emergency occurs.
Because we are a mobile practice, some services require the staffing, equipment, or controlled environment of a veterinary hospital. We do not provide emergency or critical care, surgery, general anesthesia, overnight hospitalization, continuous monitoring, or advanced imaging such as radiographs, ultrasound, CT, or MRI.
Certain diagnostic samples may be collected during your pet’s visit and submitted to an outside laboratory. Testing or procedures that cannot be safely or accurately performed in the home may require referral to a full-service veterinary hospital, urgent-care facility, emergency hospital, or specialist.
Yes. As Nomad Veterinary Care grows, we plan to expand our diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Future services may include digital radiographs, ultrasound, dental procedures, and select surgical procedures.
The addition of these services will depend on equipment, staffing, licensing, and the availability of an appropriate mobile clinical setting. Until then, pets requiring services that we cannot currently provide will be referred to a trusted veterinary hospital or specialist.
New services will be announced as they become available.
